PROGRAM

LEARNING
Mornings are devoted to Gemara B’Iyun accompanied by Chumash and Halacha, while afternoons are focused on Bekiyus which learns approximately 100 Daf per year. Every student is challenged to learn entire Masechtot and to know them well. Derech Etz Chaim believes that the skills acquired through the combination of both the Iyun and Bekiyus learning form the necessary framework for future independent study.

The mornings close with the main focus of the learning day “Why we do Mitzvos” and the ideas that drive one’s Avodas Hashem. To that end a daily shiur in the Rambam Sefer HaMitzvos is given, but even more so it provides the background for all the learning done at the Yeshiva. Derech Etz Chaim also offers in-depth Shiurim on a wide variety of other subjects including: Chumash, Navi, Halacha, Machshava, Parashas Ha’Shavua, Sefer Ha’Chinuch, and Mussar. An Ulpan (for improving Hebrew language skills) is also available within the Yeshiva.
TIYULIM
As a student at Derech Etz Chaim, you will also have an opportunity to participate in a number of yeshiva-wide trips around the country. We believe in integrating your day-to-day Torah learning with an acute appreciation for the unique beauty of Eretz Yisrael. We also want to make sure you have fun and a great time on every Tiyul! Activities include rappelling, rafting, hiking, biking, jeeping and general touring. There are several overnights, as well as day trips and Shabbatonim interspersed throughout the year. Your Rebbeim will participate on each Tiyul, allowing you to strengthen your connection in a non-academic setting. Check out our Facebook page for pictures from our latest trips!
